Manufacturer replaces outdated UNIX system for fully integrated
business and accounting software
Trolex Ltd, a leading manufacturer of safety monitoring and
sensing technology, has placed an order valued in excess of £55,000
with IT systems reseller, CB Solutions, for business and accounting
software, Exchequer from IRIS Enterprise Software.
Exchequer will be replacing an outdated UNIX system which is not
compatible with newer IT hardware and software systems used by the
manufacturer and that has ceased to be adequately supported.
Exchequer was selected for its broad functionality and ease of
integration and connectivity with other business
applications.
Andrew Dawson, IT Manager at Trolex, explains, "Exchequer is a
modern, Windows-based business and financial accounting system with
a user-friendly interface, which means that people throughout the
company will be able to use it easily, not just those in the
finance department. All of our business information will be
accessible via one integrated system, allowing us to share data far
more easily throughout the company."
Due to Exchequer's ability to link seamlessly with Microsoft
Excel and other separate business applications, information can be
effortlessly imported and exported to and from the system.
This greatly reduces the need for manual intervention which is
time consuming and highly prone to errors. The automation of
business processes and data transfer will also significantly
improve the speed and quality of management reporting information
within the organisation.

Dawson comments, "We will be able to create direct links in
Exchequer to documents in other systems. For example, we will be
able to have links in Exchequer to our production package
documents, which are detailed drawings and parts lists required to
build our products. This will be of great advantage to our workshop
employees when ordering in stock. It will also mean a vast
reduction in the need for paper-based documentation around the
office."
To drive further efficiency throughout the business, Trolex has
invested in Exchequer's Paperless and Sentimail® modules. The
Paperless module will enable the accounts department to send out
documents and reports, such as orders, invoices and statements, in
a secure format, by fax or email, saving a considerable amount of
time and money on stationery, postage and administration.
By integrating intelligent messaging via email with the financial
data that is held within Exchequer, Sentimail® will push out
proactive business alerts to communicate up-to-date financial
information and highlight potential issues as they arise. This will
be a particularly useful facility for business managers out on the
road.
Dawson concludes, "The implementation of Exchequer will
deliver far more flexibility and efficiency throughout the
business, making it much easier for us to present high-level
information to the senior management team in order for them to make
informed business decisions."
