A lack of flexibility and difficulty in extracting useful
management information from its existing financial software, led
Nutrel Group to adopt Exchequer from IRIS Enterprise Software.
Nutrel Group is totally dedicated to the development and
supply of plant nutrients to professionals in horticulture.
The company owns and operates its own quality controlled
manufacturing and blending facilities which means it can offer a
unique service direct to the door for organisations such as
B&Q, ASDA and some premier football clubs.
When choosing to move away from its existing accounting
package, Nutrel Group was looking for a new system that offered
ease of use, flexibility, a good stock control program, ability to
extract information simply, integration with Microsoft products and
a futureproof solution.
Daniel Wilkinson, Managing Director of Nutrel Group comments,
"We looked at Opera 32, Sage and Access as well as Exchequer via
our local reseller.
We chose Exchequer as we were impressed with the ability to access
and manage information. Other systems were not specifically
written on a Windows base, so are far less easy to integrate with
other Microsoft programs. I also felt that we could expand
the solution with our business due to its modular nature, so we
invested in a 12 user licence."
As the Managing Director, it is important for Wilkinson to
draw management information from a finance system. "The
Report Writer functionality contributed to our decision to adopt
Exchequer, as it is so important for me to be able to quickly and
easily access information on profit margins, sales figures
etc. We were spending a lot of time generating this detail
from our existing system, but with Exchequer I can look at anytime
and get an immediate overview of exactly where we are with profit
and loss.
The Stock Control Module was also an important factor in our
purchasing decision as again, it makes it very easy to get critical
stock information at the touch of a button."
Wilkinson continues, "The most obvious benefit that Exchequer
gives us is the ability to monitor product margins far more easily
than we could with our previous system. It was a huge task to
analyse margins by product accurately so it tended to only be done
once a year, which didn't give us the opportunity to keep an
accurate check on profit and loss. Now we can do it easily on
a much more regular basis, which means we can adjust our margins
accordingly and save vital profits should there be fluctuations in
the price of our materials."
As part of ongoing business growth and to improve
communication with its nationwide team of plant nutrition
specialists, Nutrel Group will soon be adopting Sentimail® from
IRIS Enterprise Software. This module enables users to rely
on proactive business alerts via email and SMS to keep relevant
staff updated about all areas of financial operation.
"Sentimail® will give us the ability to keep our sales staff
much better informed. For example, a Sales Manager can
receive immediate information on whether one of his or her accounts
is on hold or payment is overdue, so they can act
accordingly. Easy access to information is what gives you the
edge and Exchequer facilitates that for us from an accounting
perspective." concludes Wilkinson.
